Ratna was related to politician Nara Lokesh, actors Jr. N.T.R. and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. He is the nephew of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna, and actor and politician Nandamuri Harikrishna.
