It’s safe to say that Dylan Kingwell is a prodigy in his own right to act. The actor’s career began when he was just four years old and hasn’t lapsed since then. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Dylan didn’t start his acting career with theatrical productions, nor did he have to commit to too many commercials before his big break.
However, he is fortunate that his parents were able to spot his talent early on and pave the way for his success. Kingwell has worked primarily in television and is known for appearing in series and films such as The Good Doctor, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and The Christmas Note.
Dylan Kingwell’s Bio and Age
The actor was born on July 6, 2004. He was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It wasn’t long before Dylan got into acting. He was signed by a talent agent at the age of four and landed his first gig in 2008, a Candy Land Castle commercial for Hasbro.
Although he began acting in films shortly thereafter, he did get opportunities to do a few more commercials as his career progressed.
His acting career
Dylan made his television film debut in 2011, On the Mat He was cast as Jordy Junior, the son of Jordy Slocum, played by David Cudmore. Two years later, he appeared in his first feature film, a fantasy drama titled The Young and Amazing TS Spivet. He then appeared in the same episode as a guest on the series The People of Tomorrow.
In 2014, Dylan Kingwell landed another, albeit minor, role in Tim Burton’s film Big Eyes. He also appeared in the short film Soldiers of Earth as the younger version of Richard Meen’s character Coyle. The following year, Dylan was in The Returnee, an A&E adaptation of the French series Les Revenants. This was his first starring role and he played the character Victor, who appeared in every episode of the first season.
2015 proved to be the busiest of his career so far. He appeared in three Christmas films. He was the younger version of David Alpay’s character in Ice Sculpture Christmas. Dylan Kingwell also had a major role as Danny in Wish Upon A Christmas and portrayed Ethan in The Christmas Note. That same year, he also guest-starred as a young Sam Winchester in an episode of the eighth season of Supernatural.
2016 was a relatively slow year for Dylan Kingwell. He only appeared in one project, a TV movie called The Wilding where he portrayed the character, Peyton Reddings. The following year he was in Manny’s Dearest as the character Max Clark. He followed that up with the role of Arthur Henderson in the TV movie Campfire Kiss and also played Sean Keegan in Escape From Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Kingwell also had a recurring role as Steve Murphy, the younger brother of Freddie Highmore’s main character Shawn Murphy, on the ABC series The good doctor.
Dylan Kingwell also appeared on Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. He joined the black comedy-drama series in 2017 in a recurring capacity, playing the dual roles of Duncan and Quigley Quagmire. The series is based on a children’s book of the same name by Lemony Snicket. In this show, Dylan Kingwell collaborated with Neil Patrick Harris, Avi Lake, Malina Weissman, Patrick Warburton and Louis Hynes.
